Improper AC Compressor Placement

An AC compressor should not be within 12' or so from a dryer vent.  The dryer vent discharge cover is just to the left of the compressor, seen as a white trapezoid on the foundation wall near the ground.  Notice how the compressor fins are filtering the air of dryer lint!  The lint appears as a thin, gray blanket on the fins.  See how the side opposite the dryer vent has less lint?  Looking at this photo you might think this compressor is turning gray with age!  Not the case.  It is only four years old.  Clogging the fins like that affects the unit's ability to cool the air and will age it more quickly as it tries harder and harder to compress the coolant gas.
